Will Jurgen Klopp be able to get the better of familiar foes Bayern Munich? LiveSoccerTV's match preview provides team news, match facts, and global broadcast listings for Liverpool vs Bayern.

Current form: Liverpool vs Bayern

Liverpool are enjoying one of their strongest domestic campaigns in recent times, and are currently locked in a tough battle with reigning champions Manchester City for the coveted Premier League title. The Reds sit level with Pep Guardiola's side on 65 points, but are in second place due to an inferior goal difference, and at one point were comfortably leading the league table after an unbeaten start to the season. However, in the past few weeks, they have started to slip-up, and have thus allowed City to get back into the title race, and with the Citizens crushing fellow English giant 6-0 recently, Guardiola's troops have now been able to vault to the top of the table.

Liverpool's last Premier League action saw them cruise to a 3-0 win over Bournemouth, and now Jurgen Klopp has to turn his attention back to continental affairs. His next opponent will be none other than Bayern Munich - a team he is quite familiar with from his time in Germany, especially with Borussia Dortmund. It was die Roten who denied him the chance to win the Champions League back in 2013, and the Bavarian titans have frustrated him time and time again domestically while he was on the tactician's bench. In fact, Klopp has lost more than half of his 29 meetings with die Roten.

Given that Liverpool aren't involved in the FA Cup, they do come into this match well-rested. Bayern, meanwhile, picked up a 3-2 win over Augsburg over the weekend, but it was hardly a comfortable result for Niko Kovac's men, who are still looking up at Dortmund in the table. It's been a surprising turn of events over in Germany, where Bayern had enjoyed an unchallenged reign as the perpetual champions of the Bundesliga. They will be hoping to at least cause some problems at Anfield so as to be able to head back to the Allianz Arena with an away goal or two in hand, as the Champions League has proven to be a frustrating journey for the Bavarian titans since winning it in 2013.

How they got here: Liverpool vs Bayern

Liverpool started their group stage campaign off well with a hard-fought 3-2 win over PSG. However, the Reds then suffered a set-back as they ended up losing 1-0 to Napoli, and despite easily brushing aside minnows Red Star Belgrade 4-0 on matchday three, they lost two of their last three group stage games - including a shock 2-0 defeat to the same minnows - and finished second behind PSG in the table.

As for Bayern, despite drawing both home and away against Ajax, die Roten nonetheless did enough to top their quartet thanks to four victories, which earned them 14 points in total.
