The high-flying league champions added another win to their haul at Stamford Bridge to land a number of milestones

Liverpool went a step further in their Premier League title defense by running way with the win against Chelsea on Sunday. The Reds staged another strong performance to secure the three points with a 2:0 win at the Stamford Bridge.

After showing much promise for the most part of the first half, Jurgen Klopp's men had their chances of winning boosted by Andreas Christensen's sending off. The Danish defender took one for the team by tackling Sadio Mane to the ground after the Senegalese had broken through on goal.

10 minutes after proceedings resumed for the second half, Mane headed home Roberto Firmino's cross to give Liverpool the lead before capitalizing on a goalkeeping mistake by Kepa Arrizabalaga to his second four minutes later. A chance for Chelsea to pull one back then went down the drain with Jorginho missing a penalty earned by Timo Werner. 

Below are some of the feats achieved as a result of happenings in the day's encounter:

  • Andreas Christensen is the Chelsea since Frank Lampard in February 2009 to be sent off in a Premier League clash with Liverpool. 

  •  Sadio Mané is the third Liverpool player to score twice against Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. Steve McManaman (in December 1995) and Philippe Coutinho (in October 2015) are the only two players to have done so.

  • Jorginho missed a penalty for the first time since he joined Chelsea. Alisson's penalty save was his first for Liverpool since he completed the switch from AS Roma.

  • Chelsea had a player sent off and missed a penalty in a league game for the first time in 21 years.
