Paris Saint-German forward Neymar Jr came through with a potential miss of the season contender in Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League encounter with Atalanta. The 28-year-old winger failed to capitalize on a breakaway move to put his side in front inside the fourth minute of the night's clash.
Arguably the most fascinating tie of the quarter final stage gave the impression for a goal-feast to ensue at the Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica considering the amount of attacking talents available to both sides. However, the first real opportunity to potentially usher in the onslaught was squandered to the dismay of many.
It was none other than the prolific Neymar Jr who emerged as the unlikely culprit. Having already scored three times in three Champions League starts this season, one would expect the Brazilian superstar to convert his chance after racing all the way from the half-way line to go face to face with the Atalanta goalkeeper.
The former Barcelona talisman ended up skewing his shot wide. The shocked faces of his teammates told the whole tale. Watch:
