Manchester United fans on social media have slammed midfielder Andreas Pereira for his performance in the first half of Sunday's Premier League clash against Liverpool. The 24-year-old Brazilian saw himself making an open goal miss as his side trailed ahead of the break.
A better half was certainly expected from Pereira who ended up finding himself at the end of two unfortunate scenarios. First, the former academy star dribbled his way into Liverpool's penalty area but ruined the move by running into Daniel James having failed to deliver a shot on goal.
Moments later, the Manchester United No. 15 passed on yet another glorious opportunity to equalize for the visitors after Virgil Van Dijk had opened the scoring with a header. This time, he failed to guide home a Aaron Wan-Bissaka's cross which found him at Liverpool's gaping far post. Watch:

It is safe to say that football fans on Twitter barely enjoyed these moments considering that Pereiera has much being touted as the next big thing since his emergence from the club's academy. Having featured in 19 of the team's 23 Premier League games thus far, the Brazilian midfielder has registered just a goal and three assists.
If Pereira goes with his left foot it's 1-1. Unreal that an elite professional is prepared to make an open goal into a difficult chance because he doesn't trust his left foot from 3 yards.

Pereira is the worst Brazilian I've ever had the displeasure of watching

Weird game, this. A mismatch all over and Liverpool could/should be 3-0 up without being at their optimum, yet Pereira should equalise there. Robertson's looked especially rusty so far.

Who introduce Pereira to football?

Andreas Pereira...I have no words....

Andreas Pereira's decision making is absolutely shocking. Daniel James is through on goal on the right side, a simple passes puts him in, Pereira instead opts to pass on the left to Martial and Joe Gomez intercepts it. Small details, big margins.

Andreas Pereira can't play a five yard pass. Andreas Pereira can't play a five yard pass. Andreas Pereira can't play a five yard pass. Andreas Pereira can't play a five yard pass. Andreas Pereira can't play a five yard pass. Andreas Pereira can't play a five yard pass. #LIVMUN

Andreas Pereira is proof that if Mark Noble was from Brazil and called Noblinho he would be playing for Barcelona
