Judgment had been passed regarding the dispute between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid regarding Antoine Griezmann a month ago. Despite this, peace had not been made between the two parties until now, according to El Mundo.
The Blaugrana completed the deal for the French superstar back in July, triggering his €120M ($135M) release clause to put an end to what had been a prolonged transfer saga. However, shortly afterward, his former employers lodged a complaint regarding his move.
Los Rojiblancos stated that an agreement had been reached with the player not in July, but during the springtime when the attacker’s release clause stood at €200M. The Spanish FA ruled in Atletico’s favor but the punishment for the Catalan giants was a mere €300 fine, which did not please the Madrid giants.
However, the two clubs have closed that chapter after coming to an agreement. The report states (as per Marca) that Barcelona will pay Griezmann’s former club approximately $17M. Furthermore, the defending Liga champions have earned the right for five of Simeone’s players, including Jose Gimenez and Saul, though this merely means they will be given the right to match any bid made for the agreed up players.
Both clubs will be in action in the Champions League this week. Atletico Madrid will take to the pitch first, hosting Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday. Messi and Co. will be in action 24 hours later in an away clash with Slavia Praha on Wednesday.
