The Reds have lost their two most recent friendlies, which forces them to put up a better show against the Portuguese Lions.

Liverpool and Sporting CP will face each other in one more game for the UEFA Champions League champions.

After a good start of the pre-season, where they won their two first friendlies, Klopp's men have lost two straight matches against Borussia Dortmund (3-2) and Sevilla (2-1). On the other side of the pitch, Sporting has not been able to win any of their three friendlies prior to Wednesday's meeting with Liverpool. Marcel Keizer's men have drawn two, while their other game ended in a 2-1 loss against Swiss side Rapperswil-Jona.

As discussed previously, Liverpool has focused on reducing their payroll. Jürgen Klopp urged the team to let four players leave the club, including Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings. The Reds have only signed highly-rated center back Sepp Van den Berg, who is targeted to become Virgil Van Dijk's apprentice in the next couple of years.

Sporting Lisbon has added two footballers, including Rafael Camacho, a former Liverpool player, following the payment of over $6M. Keizer's other addition is none other than former Atlético and Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto, who joins the Lions on a $9.3M agreement with Atlético.
