Italian agent Mino Raiola also had time to compare his client's skills with those of two legends, which may not go down well among bianconeri fans.

Contrary to what the public may think, Matthijs De Ligt's decision to join Juventus was not only about the salary he will collect with the bianconeri side.

Speaking in the hours leading to the player's unveiling with the Serie A champions, agent Mino Raiola referred to his client's decision to snub Manchester United and Barcelona, which did not have anything to do with the wages he is set to earn.

"It's important for a defender to come to Italy. He can learn to become the best in the world here," Raiola said.

"This step is necessary for his career. Certainly, he's the best young defender. After that, he only needs a bit of time to show that he's the best on a different level," the agent added.

The agent, who also represents Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mexican winger Hirving Lozano and Paul Pogba, compared De Ligt's skills to those of a Juve legend and to those shown by one of his clients.

"In terms of work and mentality, he approaches and even surpasses Nedved. He reminds me of Ibra for his ambition," Raiola stated.

Raiola, pictured with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is known for his close relationship with most of his clients.

The Italian agent referred to the rumors about De Ligt's arrival and Cristiano Ronaldo's influence in his decision.

"Whether Ronaldo told him to join Juve, you have to ask him. I don't know. The decision to join Juve was a considered one, it wasn't made in just a day. It was a long process," Raiola concluded.
