The Spaniard's goal proved vital after the final whistle.

More drama, more drama and more drama! The scililating start in the Champions League clash between Manchester City and Tottenham was a prelude for an even wilder turn of event.

After the goal fest in the first 21 minutes of the encounter, the latter stages came with their own subplots starring Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and sporadic Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente.

First, the former scored his first goal in the Champions League knockout stage for Manchester City to almost put his side on the brink of qualification. With the aggregate scoreline standing at 4-3 in favor of Pep Guardiola's men, substitute Fernando Llorente headed home to spoil the party for the hosts.

However, his night's feat had to bypass scrutiny as it took the VAR for the goal to be authenticated. Manchester City almost turned the tide in their favor in the dying embers of the game but the VAR proved to be the Etihad outfit's Achilles heel.

Raheem Sterling's 93rd minute goal which would have sealed his hattrick was rather invalidated following a review by Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir. Tottenham Hotspur, as a result, secured a historic semi-final qualification via the 4-4 aggregate scoreline with the away goal advantage.
