The Cameroonian footballer was taken to the hospital for a check up, but the medical update did not bring good news for the Reds.

Just when things seemed to be getting on the right track for Liverpool, injuries could deter them from reaching their goals.

It was all smiles inside Liverpool's locker room following their nerve-wrecking win against Napoli, but that will not be the case right now, as some of the injury concerns that game left were confirmed by tests performed on Liverpool's footballers today.

Such is the case of defender Joel Matip, who was taken to the hospital to undergo tests on his shoulder. The results came in this morning, and the Cameroon international will be out for at least six weeks due to a broken collarbone.

This represents quite a problem for Klopp ahead of their game against Manchester United, since the Reds will only have Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren fit for the crucial tie. Matip will join English defender Joe Gomez on the sidelines after the latter was confirmed as a long-term injury due to a broken leg.

Added to that, James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold are injury worries after the game against Napoli, with their medical situation set to be revealed in the next few days.

The current EPL leaders face quite a complicated schedule in the next few days, with games against Manchester United, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester City in the horizon.
