This is according to a study done by CIES, which ranked one well-known Spanish club in last place.

In a new study made by CIES Football Observatory, Man City has emerged as the club with the highest number of foreign players this season. Although it’s not surprising that the Citizens came in first, their percentage is shockingly high in comparison to others.

This issue identified the percentage of players signed from abroad from those that have been fielded this term. The Premier League leader topped the list at 77.3% with 17 of the 22 fielded names being recruited from outside England.

Guardiola’s side is one of three Premier League sides in the top 10, alongside Chelsea (76.2%) and Arsenal (60.9%). Conte’s crew comes in at second at 76.2% with 16 of their 21 field players this season being recruited from elsewhere.

PSG, having broken the bank to lure Neymar from La Liga, is also in the top 10. The Ligue 1 giant entered at sixth spot with 16 of their 24 fielded players being signed from foreign clubs (66.7%).

29 teams got more than half of their fielded players from teams outside of their country. The Premier League expectedly has many clubs on that list.

The team in the last place is none other than Athletic Bilbao of Spain, the club with a strict recruitment process. The Basque club has fielded 23 footballers so far this season, but only one was signed from outside their country: Aymeric Laporte.
