About Puchar Polski

Puchar Polski History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage

The Puchar Polski, or Polish Cup, is a cup competition from that country that features amateur, veteran, and professional football teams. It was first played in 1925, and despite having two pauses, it has been established as one of the most relevant club football competitions in that country.

As stated previously, the tournament welcomes amateur, veteran, and lower-tier teams, who are forced to enter preliminary rounds before making it to the proper competition, where Ekstraklasa teams await. All rounds are played as a KO match, with penalties being used to determine the winner in case of a draw after 90 minutes.

Speaking about the final, it is played at a neutral venue to make things fair for both contenders. After many years of having different venues, the Polish Football Association determined to celebrate the title match at the National Stadium, located in Warsaw.
Legia Warsaw are, by far, the most successful club in Puchar Polski history, with over 25 title match appearances since the tournament was created. The winner of this competition is handed a spot in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Coverage of this tournament has been awarded to Telewizja Polska, who air and stream games via their channels, such as TVP Sport and TVP 1, using their streaming platform (sport.tvp.pl) or via their app for mobile devices (TVP Sport App). The deal will allow the network to cover the competition until 2027.
