Winning the Ballon D'Or is Neymar's obsession, and according to his compatriot, PSG will not be the way to do so.

With constant rumors circling the most expensive player in the world, one more World Cup winner with Brazil has stepped up to give Neymar some advice regarding his future.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet GloboEsporte, former Barcelona and Brazil ace Rivaldo hinted that, in order for his compatriot to win the Ballon D'Or, he must leave PSG and make a comeback to La Liga. The problem for Barcelona fans comes when they realize that Rivaldo urged "Ney" to join Real Madrid rather than re-joining his former club.

"I have even told Neymar he could be the best in the world. But I believe that if he stays at PSG, it will not happen. He has to leave PSG. Barcelona, because of his situation, is difficult. But I believe that, from what I hear, from people who bring information to me, he has a chance to play for Real Madrid," Rivaldo stated.

The former Barcelona ace won the Ballon D'Or with Los Blaugranas in 1999.

Rivaldo explained why Neymar needed to make a shocking return to the Spanish top flight if he wants to conquer the coveted individual award.

"The football for him, if he is to be the best in the world, has to be in Spain. If you're going to analyse, there's England, Spain, Italy, Germany - all different - but I'm talking about competitive football. If he does so, then, yes, I think he can be the best in the world," Rivaldo added.

Neymar is currently recovering from a foot injury in Brazil, but doubts about his future have been cast by recent reports in Spain and Brazil, which see the player asking for a transfer after the World Cup.
