Lionel Messi reached another career milestone with his goal in Barcelona’s 5:0 victory over Sevilla.

Another day, another landmark for the Barcelona superstar. The 30-year-old forward was in the mix of things for the Catalans yet again as they run riot on a helpless Sevilla side.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored Barcelona’s second goal in the cup final before consecutively setting up Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta for the Catalan’s third and four goals, respectively, to endorse his five-star performance. Per the historical archives of the competition, Messi’s 31st-minute strike took him to level-pecking with the legendary Telmo Zarra as the players to have scored in a five different Copa del Rey finals.

Nevertheless, Lionel Messi’s six goals are two shy of that of the Athletico Bilbao legend’s which was set between 1942 and 1950. The goal also meant that the Argentine forward has scored 40 or more goals for the ninth consecutive season.

In the assists department, Lionel Messi became the first player in this era to provide an assist or more in each of the last three Copa Del Rey finals. That withstanding, it was also a remarkable day for Luis Suarez who has now scored in the finals of five different competitions since joining Barcelona from Liverpool.

In another side scene, Lionel Messi broke tradition to allow the outgoing Andres Iniesta to lift the Copa Del Rey trophy all by himself. Normally, two players lift the accolade whenever the Catalans win it but the little Argentine ensured that this year was an anomaly as a tribute to the veteran midfielder and skipper.
