The Chilean striker will become the best-paid player in the Premier League, according to numerous reports.

After weeks of speculation, Alexis Sánchez will continue his playing career at Manchester United, as the Red Devils made an official announcement on the swap deal between themselves and Arsenal.

The 29-year old will become the first Chilean player to wear Manchester United's colors in the EPL after spending the last three and a half years at Arsenal.

The player shared his delight in an interview with the club's website.

"The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down. I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here," Sánchez stated.

The club's Twitter feed had a special welcome for the footballer.

José Mourinho seemed delighted to have the player around, especially since he owns skills that will make him fit right into the squad.

"He will bring his ambition, drive and personality, qualities that make a Manchester United player and a player that makes the team stronger and the supporters proud of their club dimension and prestige," Mourinho said.

This deal couldn't have gone through if Henrikh Mkhitaryan hadn't agreed terms to join Arsenal, and Mourinho took time to praise the player's contribution to the team during his 18 months as a Red Devil.

"I would like to wish Henrikh all the success and happiness that I am sure he is going to get. He is a player that we will not forget, especially for his contribution to our Europa League victory," the coach added.

The team's Twitter feed also shared Sánchez's first moments as a Manchester United player.
