Love him or hate, Jose Mourinho is here to stay. The Special One, despite winning the Europa League; Community Shield; and League Cup in his debut season, still has critics at the Red Devils.

Nonetheless, none can deny the Portuguese tactician has elevated the club since succeeding Louis Van Gaal. Jose now appears set to be rewarded for his achievements at Old Trafford.

The Sun reports that the former Chelsea boss has agreed to a new five-year deal with the 20-time Premier League champion. The 54-year-old had initially agreed to a three-year deal upon arriving at Man United but is now ready to extend his stay.

The manager and the board are happy with each other, a relationship that is vital to Mourinho’s decision to remain onboard. The Special One is determined to win the Premier League and has thus agreed to stay with Man United. The club hopes to make an announcement in the next 10 days.

This means the manager’s extension could be announced shortly after signing Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean is an Arsenal player at the moment but is expected to join Man United this month.

The Red Devils emerged as favorite to sign the South American ace after Man City dropped out of the race. Talks with the Gunners continue, with Man United closing on a deal for the 29-year-old.
