The Argentinean footballer will say goodbye to the team's supporters in a public event, with the first team in attendance as well.

Javier Mascherano demanded more playing time before the 2018 World Cup, and with Barcelona being unable to guarantee such a request, both parties decided that the end of the road had arrived.

With that in mind, Barcelona will say goodbye to "El Jefecito" after seven-and-a-half years. The Argentinean will be given a chance to bid farewell to the team's supporters in a public ceremony on Wednesday, with all of his team-mates in attendance. The player's farewell will be broadcast via their website.

Mascherano will leave the club as the fourth foreign player with the most caps for Barcelona. Only Lionel Messi, Philip Cocu and Dani Alves played more games. He played 333 games in all comps for Los Culés, winning 18 trophies and scoring only one goal.

Once the announcement was made, Los Blaugranas posted a tribute on their Twitter feed to praise Mascherano's contribution to the team's recent success. Have a look.
