On Tuesday, reports claimed the Brazilian had agreed terms with the Ligue 1 giants.

Barcelona fans can be forgiven for watching updates on Neymar’s future with their eyes glued to the screen. The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou, with Esporte Interativo claiming personal terms have been agreed.

According to that report, the Selecao superstar has only one reason to leave the Blaugrana: to step out from under Messi’s shadow and become the world’s best player. A bumper wage package would also sweeten the deal.

That move would break up one of the greatest attacking trio in football history, MSN, but Ernesto Valverde’s side could land number one target Marco Verratti and a record transfer fee along the way.

However, that move appears less likely to happen. The player himself responded to the claims, dismissing any desire to leave the Catalan giants.

This is as written by Goal, who claim to have had an email exchange with Neymar. In the mail, the 24-year-old admits to being excited for the upcoming season with Barcelona. He said:

"The last one was my best season in Barcelona. I am very adapted to the city, the club and I am happy here. That is reflected on the performance of an athlete.

"It was the season where I felt more comfortable, even though we did not win the titles we would have wanted. We played great games and lived incredible moments. Now, we need to work for the 2017-18 season so it will be even more positive individually and as a group."

This alleged response from the Barcelona star was a “response to a question initially sent to him last week” and not Tuesday’s developments. Nonetheless, the Brazilian is at one of the world’s best clubs and is under contract until 2021.
