Lionel Messi's late penalty has saved Barcelona three important points.

Lionel Messi scored a late penalty to hand Barcelona a 2-1 win over Leganes at the Nou Camp in La Liga. The Catalan giants had opened the scoring through Leo in the 4th minute, but a defensive blunder in the 71st minute saw Unai Lopez equalize for the visitors. 

With the game almost heading to the final whistle, all tied, Neymar was brought down in the box right under the referee's nose. La Pulga then stepped up and blasted the ball into the far left corner as the Nou Camp erupted into wild cheers.

Barcelona are still fighting to catch up with rivals Real Madrid who are at the top of the league with 52 points, one more than Blaugrana, and have two games in hand. They now travel to the Vincente Calderon on Feb 26 to face rivals Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
