Jose looks to bring in some world-class names in January, and would thus sell the Red Devils captain.

Manchester United’s season hasn’t begun on the right foot, losing three games and winning only four in the English Premier League so far. Long gone is the excitement surrounding Jose Mourinho’s reign, as questions as to whether the Portuguese tactician has lost his touch have emerged.

The Special One, though, is already plotting solutions, and one of them is bringing in more players in the winter transfer window. Of course, with players coming in, Jose will have to make room by shipping off some of his currently players. One man on the chopping block is Wayne Rooney.

The Red Devils captain, a regular under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal, eventually saw his poor form lose him his spot in the starting eleven under Mourinho. Now, ESPN FC claim that sources close to the club have revealed that the Special One is ready to cash in on the Englishman.

The 53-year-old boss has reportedly told the player’s agent that he should move elsewhere in favor of regular playing time, and Jose would be more happy to be rid of the financial burden the Three Lions captain holds on Old Trafford.

Although Wayne Rooney won’t command a high transfer fee as he would have three seasons back, being free of his £350,000-a-week salary would help Man United financially. Of course, the player’s high wage means only a few clubs can afford the 31-year-old.

There is tons of money in China, but the player holds little to no interest in a move to far-east Asia. Major League Soccer is also another option.

Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing a new full-back, a center-back, and a striker who can offer pace. Seamus Coleman, Fabinho, and Antoine Griezmann are targets. Unfortunately, landing the Atletico Madrid star would prove close to impossible.
