Despite the interest of the Argentine exec to have Messi around for the World Cup Qualifiers, the association will not ask the player who he wants to coach La Albiceleste.

Even if Lionel Messi said he didn't want to play for Argentina again, AFA's President will try to make him change his mind about it.

Recently appointed President Armando Pérez revealed that he will have a word with the Argentine ace to make him reconsider his decision to leave La Albiceleste for good, following a third straight final match upset.

Pérez will meet with a number of coaches during his European tour, hoping he can sign a suitable boss for La Albiceleste after Gerardo Martino's resignation.

"40 million Argentineans want Messi to reconsider. I will ask him if he wants to return to the team, but I won't go in deeper on who will be the new coach," Pérez told Argentinean radio station Radio Uno.

Messi decided to call it quits from International football after losing the Copa América Centenario this summer.

The president's remarks about Messi asking who will be coaching La Albiceleste seem to confirm rumors about the player being involved in the coach's appointment in order to benefit his playing style, something that could have prevented Diego Simeone to become his boss back in 2014.

"If Messi asks me who will be the coach, that will be the end of the conversation. I'll let him know that he will be informed after we decide," Pérez added.

Last week, Pérez revealed he had three top candidates to become La Albiceleste's new coach: Mauricio Pocchetino, Diego Simeone and Jorge Sampaoli. While Tottenham's boss has already dismissed any links to the job, Pérez admitted Atletico's tactician and Sevilla's manager are still included in his shortlist.
