Hateem Ben Arfa will not sign for La Liga giants Barcelona, if the latest reports from France are anything to consider.

Barcelona and PSG target Ben Arfa could be on his way to the Premier League to join the Foxes, according to Daily Mail. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder is also said to be a top transfer target for Sevilla and Lyon ahead of the new season.

The ex-Newcastle man was in superb form last season, having scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 37 appearances in all competitions for Nice. The player is out of contract with the Ligue 1 outfit and is said to be interested in seeking greener pastures away from the French Ligue.

Speaking to Canal+, Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas revealed that although his club was negotiating a deal with the talented forward, Premier League champions Leicester City had a higher chance of landing his signature. He revealed:

''Ben Arfa, it is a question of passion. He is close to our desire, our enthusiasm, to our fans. I think that he really wants to join Lyon

''If he does not come, it will be for reasons that have nothing to do with passion,'

''I believe that it is more Leicester City in terms of the direction he is heading. That is what people have told me who spoke to him on the phone this afternoon.''

The star forward has previously played for Lyon, Marseille, Newcastle United and Nice. He made his debut for the French national football team in 2007 and has since scored two goals in 15 appearances for his country.
