After the Republic of Ireland held a 1-1 draw last Friday against the Dutchmen, they will be looking to secure a confidence-boosting victory ahead of Euro 2016 against Belarus.

The Irish lads qualified for the European Championship this summer in third place, finishing with 18 points on the table.

Belarus recently received a beating by Northern Ireland, losing 3-0 to the green and white army. Regardless of their failure to book a ticket to the Euro 2016, they will travel to Ireland desperate to steal a win.

Team news - who's fit and who's not?

Ireland Republic midfielder James McCarthy is set to resume training this Monday ahead of the friendly against Alyaksandr Khatskevich’s crew. The 25-year old was unable to feature in their draw versus the Netherlands due to a thigh injury, but will most likely appear for the Belarus match on Tuesday. Martin O’Neill will also be delighted to have his central defender Ciaran Clark back in action. The Irish native missed out against the Dutch but is set to take part in the squad when they face Belarus.

Meanwhile, Belarus striker Sergei Kornilenko (knee) and midfielder Stanislav Dragun (muscle fatigue) are set to miss this match against O’Neill’s men. The injury list continues for the Eastern European side, as defender Roman Begunova and full-back Sergey Balanovich are also expected to miss the trip to Ireland due to their injuries.

Head to head:

  • In Ireland Republic’s last three games, the Irish boys have won once, drawn twice and avoided zero losses

  • The hosts have scored six goals in their last four home matches

  • Belarus have bagged two draws and one loss in their last three official appearances
