Jan Kozak's men are ecstatic to enter this competition as the newcomers, but have rightfully deserved their position in Group B thanks to crucial victories in the qualifying stage.

The 2016 UEFA European Championship is upon us and Slovakia will want to continue with the same determination and ambition that got them a ticket to the Euros in order to stay alive in this anticipated tournament.

Slovakia's UEFA Euro history

It's an all-new adventure for this Central European country. The players, under head coach Jan Kozak, inally made it to the 2016 Euro in France after defeating Luxembourg 4-2 away on 12 October 2015. This will be their first appearance in this elite tournament as they carry their hopes of shocking favorites.

Recent form

In the past 12 months, the 'Repre' have enjoyed a good spell, securing six wins from their last ten matches. Qualifying second behind Spain in Group C was no fluke. On their way to the France 2016, they even defeated La Roja 2-1 at home. They also conceded only eight goals in 10 matches in the qualifiers. Kozak's side holds the 32nd position in the May 2016 FIFA World Rankings.

Manager's profile

Head boss Jan Kozak took the reins of the national team in July 2013. Since then, he possesses a 58.62 winning percentage in all competitions. The Slovakian manager has a keen tactical brain and a great understanding of his players. He usually goes for the 4-2-3-1 formation, but clever variations are tried as well.

Kozak hung up his boots in 1990 after winning the Czechoslovak Cup three times and the 1982 league championship with Dukla. The former Slovak football midfielder played for first division clubs both in Slovakia, France, Belgium and the Czech Republic and received the award for Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year in 1981.
