Paulo Dybala believes Messi and CR7 would not be as successful if they played in the Italian Serie A.

Juventus star Paulo Dybala has revealed that two of the world’s best footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo would not score as many goals if they played in the Serie A. The 22-year-old Argentine, who has been tipped to follow Messi’s footsteps, has scored 16 league goals for the Old Lady this season and provided eight assists.

On the other hand, Leo has scored 25 goals in the league this season, while his rival Ronaldo has netted 31 times for Los Blancos. Barcelona star Luis Suarez lead’s the goal scorers’ chart in La Liga with 35 goals so far this season.

In an interview with Tuttosport, Dybala revealed:

“I will say that in Italy there is much better defending and it’s a tactical type of football.

“The little clubs do not play in a wild and careless way as they do in Spain, although Atletico Madrid are changing this mentality. Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo would not have scored 80-90 goals in Italy. Perhaps they would get 40 like [Gonzalo] Higuain but not 80.”

Speaking about his comparisons with the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner, he added:

“It is pleasing and the comparison doesn’t weigh on me. It means that if you commit and work hard you can become one of the greats.

“I don’t know if I’ll become like Messi, but my objective is to win the Ballon d’Or.”

Dybala’s performance has steered the Serie A giants to their fifth consecutive league title. In their remaining fixtures, they will face Verona away from home, then host Sampdoria at home in their final league match of the season. La Madama, as they are famously known, will then face rivals AC Milan in the final of the Coppa Italia on May 21.
