Los Blancos held the Citizens to a goalless draw at the Etihad stadium last week and now need to win the reverse fixture in order to book a place in the finals of the competition. Their star player Ronaldo, who is also the top goal scorer in the competition this season with 16 goals, sat out of the match due to a muscle injury.

However, according to Real Madrid’s official website, the 31-year-old star has resumed training with the rest of the squad ahead of the UCL semi-final clash. The Portugal international is also in the race for the Pichichi in La Liga, having netted 31 times for Zinedine Zidane’s side. Luis Suarez, who is the top goal scorer in La Liga, has four more goals than CR7.

Real Madrid reported that Ronaldo trained with the first team in the first half of today’s training session, then later trained individually in the second half. The website further reports that Karim Benzema is also on his way to recovery.

Los Blancos will face the Citizens on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu in a must-win duel.
