First Harry Kane, then Jamie Vardy, now the Shakhtar striker…

It seems like Chelsea are being linked with a striker by the week, and not too surprisingly so given the club’s underperforming attacking four of Diego Costa, Pedro, Radamel Falcao, and Loic Remy who have combined for a mere 6 goals.

Having initially been linked with English Premier League stars Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy, with the latter topping the goalscoring charts, the Blues now appear ready to look elsewhere in Europe for a sufficient striker.

In comes Alex Teixeira, Shakhtar Donetsk’s in-form 25-year-old Brazilian attacker who has 23 goals in as many games for the Ukrainian giants this season.

The Selecao ace plays as an attacking midfielder, meaning Jose Mourinho would be offered the luxury of playing him behind another attacker, ideally Diego Costa.

The Brazilian himself, priced at £30m, has confirmed talks with the London giants whilst speaking to Lance! However, the Blues will face competition for Teixeira from PSG and Juventus.

Luckily for Chelsea though, the Shakhtar ace favors a move to the English giants and working under the Special One, but ruled out a January transfer, saying:

“What I saw and what my manager said was that Chelsea, Juventus and PSG made proposals.

“I’m glad to have received the proposal of Chelsea as they are a big club in Europe, but my manager will sort that.”

These reports, of course, come just ahead of Chelsea’s all-important trip to White Hart Lane, a ground where they got beaten 5-3 last season, in Sunday’s London derby.

Whilst the reigning champions have been struggling this term, Spurs have been soaring, and now occupy fifth spot.

This has led Jose Mourinho to hail Mauricio Pochettino's crew as serious title contendors, claiming that he would not laugh off their chances of lifting the league crown in a pre-match press conference. Watch the video below.
