La Liga defending champions FC Barcelona host Real Sociedad in a match where the home team will hope to continue with their goal-scoring spree.

FC Barcelona look quite unstoppable right now, after demolishing their bitter rivals Real Madrid in La Liga and Roma in the Champions League consecutively. To prove their recent good form, Luis Enrique’s men have scored a total of 10 goals past their last two opponents, who are much more superior than Real Sociedad.

However, on the other hand, the Basques are still fresh from a morale-boosting victory over Sevilla last Saturday. This was coach Eusebio’s first game in charge of Sociedad after the sacking of their immediate former manager David Moyes. But despite the crucial win over a stronger opponent, many La Real supporters know that the best they can do at the Camp Nou is reducing the extent of damage that the attacking trio Messi, Suarez and Neymar are likely to cause.

The return of Lionel Messi should give the visitors more reason to worry, especially due to the fact that he scored a brace in his last match for the Catalans after returning from injury. However, coach Enrique has insisted that his side will approach this match with caution to avoid a possible disappointment.

During a recent pre-match interview with Marca, the 45-year-old Spanish tactician explained:

"This match will be dangerous for us," he said. "We are in a good moment, and we intend to extend it to the fullest.

"But there are still two thirds of the league and a lot of material to be cut. We will try to create danger from the beginning and be worthy of three points."

Real Sociedad’s current head coach Eusebio was previously working with the coaching staff at Barca as an overseer of their B team. By virtue of having an idea of how the inner circle at Barca operates, he could cause a nightmare to his former side when he returns to face them as Sociedad manager.

Team news

FC Barcelona

The home side have no new injury concerns and this gives Enrique a good reason to select a strong side. Claudio Bravio will start between the goalposts, despite being the captain at Real Sociedad before joining the La Liga giants. In the defence, Dani Alves, Jordi Alba, Pique and Mathieu or Thomas Vermaelen could feature for the home team. The midfield could be marshalled by Sergio Busquests, Sergio Roberto, Ivan Rakitic, while the famous MSN attacking trio will lead the hunt for goals.

Real Sociedad

The away side will lack the services of Asier Illarremendi due to suspension. He joins other absentees such as Markel Bergara, Joseba Zaldua, Ion Ansotegi and Chory Castro. Eusebio’s men will however rely on the lethal Imanol Agirretxe, who has scored nine goals for his side so far this season.
