There is so much drama involved in the transfer of David de Gea from Manchester United to Real Madrid. At exactly 18:25 ET / 22:25 GMT / 23:25 BST / 00:25 CET, English source Sky Sports broke the news that the goalkeeper's move had stalled. According to their report, the Red Devils had failed to submit their documents on time -- more precisely, just a minute after the close of the transfer window in Spain.
In the Spanish press, it was explained that Keylor Navas' contract didn't return on time. Since Navas is part of the De Gea deal, everything reportedly collapsed. However, there has since been a twist in the story with Manchester United insisting that they hold proof about the submission of their paperwork on time.
David De Gea - #mufc waiting for confirmation either way but adamant they have proof all their paperwork submitted to FIFA on time. #SSNHQ

Should the transfer be off, it may be seen as Ed Woodward's way of making Los Blancos pay for refusing to sell him Sergio Ramos. However, such allegations would not be coherent, money wise. This is because David de Gea could, according to AS, negotiate a free transfer in January.
Is David de Gea's transfer on or off? Twitter reacts!
First De Gea paperwork was a minute late, then it was sent a minute early, then it arrived on time, then 20 secs late, then in wrong format.

You mean to tell me our €40m move for De Gea is off because your laptop can't read pdf files? pic.twitter.com/3EfEoVmWbG

Both clubs have proof that the De Gea papers arrived in time. UEFA will decide tomorrow morning if De Gea will be a Real Madrid player.

Damn if its true, Woodward is a savage, poor De Gea

Above all, I feel bad for De Gea. He'll be forced to renovate his contract if he doesn't want to stay half a season in the stands.

David De Gea has been Madrid's main target all summer. Still, these things happen when you leave things until the last minute. Embarrassing.

I hope common sense prevails and the De Gea deal still goes through.

It looks like we will have to wait and see if the De Gea transfer will go through or not. It's up to LFP and UEFA. pic.twitter.com/eUsiiJDPaw
