The English Premier League giants are still keen on signing the Blancos defender, and will use their Spanish goalkeeper as leverage to lure him to Old Trafford.

It is no secret, La Liga giants Real Madrid are after Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, as they seek a replacement for their long-serving captain Iker Casillas.

Furthermore, De Gea, having signed for the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid, is reportedly eager to return to his home country, and join the 10-time Champions League winners.

The 20-time English Premier League champions are believed to be readying a new contract for the 24-year-old, currently on pre-season tour with the club, though rumors highly tip the Spaniard to reject the offer.

Coach Louis Van Gaal and the Manchester United board are not willing to sell the hotshot shot-stopper, and see their biggest asset walk out of the club, that is unless they receive a worthy player in return.

The Red Devils have identified that worthy player, and his name is Sergio Ramos. Reports have linked the Blancos defender with a move to Old Trafford, and though the player blew over rumors he could be headed to United, the club have not given up on signing the 28-year-old center-back.

Les Merengues, however, appear unready to entertain offers for Ramos, thus forcing Man United to hand them an ultimatum: Give us Sergio, or we will not sell you De Gea.

According to AS, Manchester United are willing to lower the price for their in-form custodian to €35m, given that Ramos in included in the deal, as written by the Spanish news outlet:

"[Man United have] lowered the price to €35 million [for De Gea], providing that Madrid agree to sell them Ramos… they will not do one deal without the other."

It will be interesting to see whether Rafael Benitez's crew yield to United's demands. De Gea enjoyed a steller 2014-15 season, and helped inspire his side back to a return to Champions League football.

However, Ramos also enjoyed a tremendous campaign, proving his value to the Bernabeu crowd, as seen by the club's demise in several games in the Spaniard's absence (their 4-0 loss to Los Rojiblancos being a perfect example).
