Once again, fans blamed Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuaín for Argentina's loss against Chile, with "La Pulga" disappearing for most of the game, and Higuaín missing a crucial chance before regulation ended. To make matters worse, Higuain's missed penalty was enough excuse to point fingers at him once the final whistle was blown.
Argentina's performance during the tournament was harshly criticized by fans and experts, who believed this generation could end up giving them their first trophy since 1993. Particularly, fan were tough on Lionel Messi, who's performance during the whole tournament was not near what they are used to watch when he plays with Barcelona.
Have a look at what fans and experts had to say about this baffling loss for the Argentineans.

Gonzalo Higuaín missed FOUR of the seven penalties he took in Serie A last season. Shouldn't have taken one. pic.twitter.com/A9hrtEEvKN

Messi never had luck with national team. Either with the amateur coaches he had, or the players surrounding him.
