Despite the recent, outrageous comments by the English attacker's agent, the Reds boss remains adamant that the 20-year-old will stay at Anfield for two more years.

"The simple fact is Raheem has two years left on his contract."

This was the stance of manager Brendan Rodgers when discussing the future of Liverpool star Raheem Sterling. Upon the northern Irish manager taking to the pre-match conference for the Reds' clash with stoke, their last English Premier Leauge game this season, much of his words surrounded the issue of the 20-year-old Englishman’s contract stalemate.

Rumors of an Anfield exit hit overdrive in recent weeks, with his agent Aidy Ward blasting the club and insisting his client will not sign a deal with the Merseyside club, as reports continue link the Three Lions ace with a move to Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Rodgers, however, remains adamant that Sterling will see out his contract with the club and remain for another two years, despite the lack of progress in negotiations between club and player.

"It's very difficult to comment on what other people speak about. We have always been clear. It will always be dealt with internally and we look to do things privately. The concentration for myself is to continue to improve Raheem as a footballer," said the 42-year-old boss.

"Whether there are talks or no talks, he has two years left and I expect him to be here. It is quite simple.

"I don't see Raheem being unhappy. His representative made it very clear he wanted to speak at the end of the season. I'm sure talks will take place over the summer."

Having featured 52 times this campaign, Rodgers also stated that his relationship with the youngster has not been tarnished by the whole contract debacle.

"If he is fit, he will be available for selection,' Rodgers added. "My relationship has not been affected. We have given Raheem an opportunity to play for one of the greatest clubs in the world. We want to resolve the situation but it does not change my approach to him. He is a good kid who has matured over the last few years.

"If he starts or doesn't start, he will get the support from the fans. What he said and didn't say will remain private. Whatever conversation I have had with a player will remain private. I am not going to sit here and reveal what went on.
