The former French striker blasted his compatriot for his poor contribution to the team's performance against Chelsea, which ended with a 0-0 draw.

Thierry Henry believes Arsenal should try to sign quality players in order to be considered as true contenders for the Premier League title. Following the team's 0-0 draw against Chelsea, the former Gunners striker stated Arsene Wenger should consider buying players in key positions of the pitch, referring particularly to the striker job.

Henry believes that each player in the squad should have a fighting chance to be in the team's Starting XI, and that having more talent to go around could make them contenders again. Particularly, Henry referred to Olivier Giroud, who he doesn't believe has what it takes to be Arsenal's first-choice striker.

"You need to have this competitive thing within the group - to win the league, that has to happen. I think Giroud is doing extremely well. But can you win the league with him? I wouldn't think so. He does a job, and he does it ever so well, but you can't win the league with him," Henry reflected.

Henry and Giroud played together during Thierry's short comeback on loan from New York Red Bulls.

After sharing his thoughts about Giroud, Henry referred to some of the positions the team should strenghten, setting Chelsea as an example of how things should be done.

"They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I'm afraid, they need a top, top quality striker to win this league again. You had the best example with Chelsea here today. They were struggling last season to win the league, they went on to buy Courtois, Matic, Cesc and Costa. For me, that speaks volumes and you saw it today - a team didn't and a team did, and they are about to win the league again," the Frenchman stated.

Giroud has scored fourteen goals in the Premier League this season, but he has been harshly criticized by fans and experts for his up and coming form.
