Little doubts remain over the Blues, but the Gunners, the Red Devils, and the Citizens are all eyeing the remaining UCL spots.

This Sunday will be a very exciting round in the English Premier League. The race for the title, and a top four, Champions League spot will either move one step closer to being achieved, or slip further away.

Three of the league’s top four sides, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, will all be in action, with the London duo locking horns in a mouth-watering clash at the Emirates. The Red Devils, who sit in fourth, will travel to Merseyside to face Everton.

The Blues’ trip to north London will prove a stern test in their chase for the glorious crown. Despite boasting a 10-point lead over the Gunners, a loss to Arsene Wenger’s crew could easily sound the alarms at Stamford Bridge.

Should Chelsea suffer defeat at the hands of Arsenal, they will need to claim a maximum of nine points from their remaining five games in order to secure the title. This may push the title race to the last round, with the Blues facing tricky tests against Liverpool, West Brom, and Crystal Palace.

A win at the Emirates will all but hand the trophy to Eden Hazard and Co., given they follow that up with a victory at Leicester City. Regardless of this, Chelsea are destined a finish in the top four, with the odds of them collapsing and falling to fifth being nil.

This means only two, guaranteed Champions League spots remain for Arsenal and the two Manchester giants. Fourth results in a direct inclusion in the qualifiers, but no team will be willing to take the risk of failing to make the group stage.

The Gunners and the Red Devils have both slid down one spot in the standings, with the Citizens’ 3-2 win over Aston Villa shooting Pellegrini’s crew into second. United are yet to play this round’s fixture, however, and Arsenal have a game in hand.

The FA Cup holders appear in pole position to grab the runners-up spot. After hosting Chelsea, Wenger’s side will play four out of their remaining six games at home. There is, however, the issue of a tasty trip to Old Trafford, on May 17.

Louis Van Gaal’s rejuvenated team have previously lost at home to Arsenal, having being eliminated from the FA Cup in a 2-1 defeat to the reigning champions. Furthermore, the 20-time champions have played a game extra, and will face the daunting task of clashing with the Eagles at Selhurst Park.

A loss at Goodison Park could easily Manchester United’s hopes of finishing above Arsenal and Manchester City. And a defeat to the Toffees is a possible outcome, given that the Red Devils have won only once in the last seven years at Everton’s famous ground.

Manchester City, having registered two wins in a row, have the toughest fixtures out of the three. Tottenham, Swansea City, and Southampton all await the United’s noisy neighbors.

What does all of this mean? Sunday’s fixtures will lead to one exhilarating English Premier League climax.
