According to sources, the Uruguayan striker has initiated negotiations with Los Colchoneros following a less than satisfactory stint with PSG.

It seems Edinson Cavani's tenure with Paris Saint-Germain could be ending soon. After a heavily publicized transfer in 2013, the Uruguayan striker has stated earlier this season that he is not enjoying his role with the team, and that he would analyze any offers for his services. Those words were not taken lightly by his compatriot Diego Godin, who apparently talked Diego Simeone into the idea of taking Cavani to Atletico Madrid.

French sources indicate that Atletico would be willing to part ways with Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic, Turkish midfielder Arda Turan and Spanish international Koke, in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and have Cavani playing with the current La Liga Champions.

Earlier this week, coach Diego Simeone blasted Mario Mandzukic for his poor performance against Sevilla, with Spanish media revealing the striker was not happy after being benched by "El Cholo". According to French newspapers, Godin talked "El Matador" into signing with Atletico, and later Simeone contacted the player to formally start negotiations.

Atletico would be interested in keeping Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres to play alongside Cavani, if the deal ended up happening. But with the Uruguayan's intention of leaving PSG, Simeone's team could have a good chance of signing one of the top South American strikers playing in Europe.
