It’s a big weekend for Chelsea. They could clinch their first trophy of the season – possibly Jose Mourinho’s first title since August 2012 when he guided ex-team Real Madrid to Spanish Supercup glory. The Blues could also take a giant step towards the 2014/15 English Premier League title, without even playing a league game this weekend. That is, if Manchester City suffer defeat away to Liverpool. The Citizens are five points behind Chelsea. Defeat for the current EPL champions would offer Mourinho’s side a chance to open up an eight-point gap with 11 matchdays to go.
Expect fans of the Blues to fully rally behind the Merseyside Reds while Man City hope to temporarily cut the gap at the top of the standings to nothing more than two points. Interestingly, both Liverpool and Man City are wounded. The latter went down at home to Barcelona in the first leg of their UCL Round of 16 tie.
