The Uruguayan striker blamed the English media for his bad reputation, stating they have always wanted to 'damage' his professional career.

During an interview with one of his homecountry's radio shows, Luis Suarez blamed English media for his bad reputation, after an incident with Martin Demichelis during last Tuesday's match between Barcelona and Manchester City. According to several newspapers, the former Liverpool striker tried to re-live his previous antics on the pitch by taking a bite at the defender's hand, something Suarez denied to his compatriots.

"There's proof that he placed his hand under my chin and I inmediately pushed it away. It's always the same story with English newspapers, they are always trying to put things where they don't belong. They just make things up to sell papers," Suarez stated.

Having endured a long ban from football, the former Ajax and Liverpool forward shared his thoughts on how he believes his season is going, adding that even some of their opponents last Tuesday have recognized he's getting better, such as goalkeeper Joe Hart.

"I came to Barcelona to help and to win trophies. I like my role on the team, because I have to create spaces for my team-mates to capitalize on them, I think I'm very useful for the team even if I don't score. For example, Hart told me he was amazed, that I should keep getting better. I think you can tell how great someone is when he comes out of nowhere and praised your job. He's not only a classy goalkeeper, he's a magnificent person," the striker added.

"FIFA treated me like a murderer"

Suarez referred to his highly publicized incident during the World Cup, in which he took a bite off Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder. The Uruguayan criticized football's governing body for how they dealt with this issue.

"I'll never forget that experience, it has been without a doubt the worst moment of my career. What I will never understand is why they treated me like a burglar. They treated me like a murderer," he concluded.
