Chelsea's boss praised his forrmer player's intentions, assuring that his election would 'guarantee a better future for FIFA´.

Several voices have supported Luis Figo's intentions to become FIFA's president, and his former coach Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts about it. Through a press release, "The Special One" applauded the former Inter Milan player's candidacy, since he could bring new ideas for the game of football.

“Figo’s candidacy is a step forward for football. His great career guarantees a better future for FIFA. I believe in his character, his determination and his passion for the sport. He will be a president focused on the football and how to make it better and he will work closely with all federations,” can be read in Mou's press release.

The relationship between the two Portuguese goes way back, having shared locker rooms since Figo's early days with Sporting Lisbon. When Mourinho became Bobby Robson's assistant at Barcelona, Figo was one of the team's stars, and finally their careers were reunited when Mou coached Figo in the 2008-2009 season with Inter. After his retirement, Figo joined Mourinho's coaching staff, winning the 2009-2010 treble with the Neroazzurri.

Southampton's boss Ronald Koeman, Pep Guardiola and former French midfielder Patrick Vieira have also supported Figo's candidacy for FIFA's top job, which will be determined in FIFA's Congress, which will be held in Zurich come May 29th.
