One of Mexico's most popular clubs will be fighting with Puebla, U de G and Veracruz to avoid being relegated for the first time in their 108-year history.

Chivas Guadalajara will try harder next season to avoid relegation, stated today their Sports VP Nestor de la Torre. The team's officer asked the fans for their trust so the team can get out of the current situation.

Billed as one of the most popular teams in Mexico, Guadalajara had a hard time putting together a competitive team for the upcoming tournament, since they have the policy of only having native players in the squad. With that in mind, Chivas re-signed former players Marco Fabian, Miguel Ponce and Erick Torres, who had an amazing season playing in the MLS. Added to these three players, former Toluca wingman Isaac Brizuela will be joining shortly, giving more depth to the team led by former Mexico coach Jose Manuel de la Torre.

"Everything can be made better, and we are quite happy because we rounded up a competitive squad to reach every objective we have. Of course, our main goal is to avoid relegation, and we are sure we will be far from being in danger when the tournament's over," De la Torre assured.

Despite making an effort to sign more players, De la Torre revealed some teams were not willing to part from their top players, even if Chivas offered good money for every footballer they seeked.

"It was not easy. We can understand some teams don't want to sell players to us, but we managed to put together a team with the specifics our coach requested. We made bids for players like Carlos Peña from León or Jorge Torres from Tigres, but their teams did not want to part from them," the executive added.

Chivas will start the Clausura 2015 as the next-to-last team in the relegation standings.

Marco Fabian is currently playing the Club World Cup on loan with Cruz Azul, and was nominated for the Puskas award.
