The Croatian striker left the German champions this season, signing for Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid.

While he is happy playing with Atletico Madrid, Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic stated today he left Bayern Munich because Pep Guardiola never trusted his skills, denying him of enough playing time and "disrespecting him".

"I think I did not deserve that kind of treatment. After all I did for Bayern Munich, I felt disrespected by Pep Guardiola when he got to the team.  He was the one that let me down for not letting me become Bundesliga's top striker," Mandzukic stated.

Mandzukic told during an interview he felt the team played better when Jupp Heynckes coached them, since they won every single tournament they played under his helm, and denied not being able to adapt to the Spanish coach style.

"I tried really hard to adapt, but there are always two sides for something to work out. I realized that, with Guardiola there, I had no option but to leave the team. There was no future for me playing with Bayern, so that's why I left," Mandzukic added.

The Croatian striker has scored four times in La Liga with his new club, being a regular in Diego Simeone's starting eleven.
