The Spanish player missed Chelsea's last games against Crystal Palace and Maribor after sustaining a series of injuries while playing for Spain's National Team

It seems Spanish striker Diego Costa has run into a bad luck streak. Following his participation with Spain's National Team, the current Premier League's leading striker sustained a couple of injuries that have sidelined him from playing in Chelsea's last matches against Crystal Palace and Maribor. To make matters worse, reports indicate Costa was hospitalized today due to a stomach illness. Hours later, the player was released from medical care, leading to speculation that he will not be playing against the Red Devils.

The 26-year old was not able to train yesterday under Jose Mourinho's orders. The Portuguese trainer stated earlier he was mad at Spain's coach Vicente del Bosque for forcing Costa to play both of La Roja's matches during the International break, making his groin and harmstring injuries more complicated to heal.

Costa's absence would represent a huge blow towards the Chelsea's next match against Manchester United this weekend, since the only experienced striker available for Mourinho is Didier Drogba, following Loic Remy's groin injury against Maribor. Other options for the Blues would be Andre Schürrle, who is also recovering from flu-like symptoms, and young Dominic Solanke, who just made his International debut with Chelsea on Tuesday. Even using Drogba would be a risky move, since the Ivory Coast striker has stated he is not fully fit after an injury plagued summer.
