Many have been drawing comparison between the Englishman and the legendary Gunners striker after his hat-trick against Galatasaray in the Champions League

It was only his fifth game at Arsenal, but English striker Danny Welbeck is already being compared to the Gunners' greatest player in history, one of the best and most electrifying strikers to have graced the English Premier League.

No need of mentioning a name because chances are you already have an idea who the player is. Thierry Henry. Being in the same sentence as the French attacker is a far cry from Welbeck's Manchester United days, a step-up from the times he was mauled by rival teams' fans, and his own club's supporters as well. That, however, only adds fuel to the comparison.

Just as Danny was staring down at a promising career gone wrong prior to his north London arrival, so was the former Arsenal star. A mouthwatering spell at Monaco was followed by a horrendous run at Juventus, one which nearly doused Henry's career completely, at the mere age of 21.

Arsene Wenger signed the speedy attacker for £11m back in 1999, rescued his career, and 228 goals later, the rest was history. Only into his fourth goal, "the next Thierry Henry" labels are way premature, but Welbeck's dazzling performance in the 4-1 win over Galatasaray has sparked the irresistible thought in many Arsenal fans' mind. Could he be the heir to King Henry's crown?

The former Red Devils youth player ran riot in the Champions League encounter at the Emirates Stadium, scoring a hat-trick past the helpless Fernando Muslera in front of his new club's faithful after only 52 minutes, becoming only the third Arsenal player to score three in a Champions League tie, following suit of Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner, and, you guessed it, Thierry Henry himself.

The sheer pace and lethal finishing exhibited in front of goal eerily bared in resemblance to that of the now New York Red Bulls forward. Not known for composure during his time at Old Trafford, a run of games as the leading front-man, alongside trust and confidence from the coach may be what brings the best out of the Manchester United graduate.

Grabbing the match ball may have slipped his mind, but Welbeck did not forget to reflect the aforementioned suggestion, that faith in his abilities is what Danny eagerly sought, expressing gratitude towards Le Prof for showing belief in him during a post-match interview.

"Obviously [Wenger] has shown a lot of faith in me and I'm delighted to be playing tonight. Just giving me the chance to play football up front in my preferred position, I'm going to do everything that I can to make sure that he's happy."

The following day, the English papers hailed the Three Lions ace after his performance against the Turkish giants, a welcomed change from the days Welbeck was ripped apart and belittled by jokes and trolls all across Twitter. But to say the game against Cesare Prandelli's men will be a stepping stone for great things yet to come is by far too early to predict.

Danny Welbeck is unfortunately plagued by moments of madness. For those who disagree, remember that awful, yet hilarious miss in the build up to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's equalizing goal in the 1-1 draw with north London rivals Tottenham?

Louis Van Gaal's comments about Arsenal's number 23 not being good enough for the 20-time champions will obviously still be ringing in his ears, and if Welbeck wishes to banish those remarks from his mind, and all those who support Arsenal and wish to see the club succeed, the Englishman must perform consistently, and when it counts most.

Welbeck hailed by the English press

Galatasaray were poor. Shipping four past Wesley Sneijder and Co. is something to be proud of, but does not merit much bragging rights. Commanding displays against the top four teams in the English Premier League, and Europe's elite is something numerous amount of Gooners have been crying for, and if Welbeck is to emulate the legendary Arsenal striker, he must serve this request to the fans on a platter, as Henry did during his eight years at London.

Sunday's game against table-toppers Chelsea will be a great chance for Welbeck to prove Wednesday night was not a fluke.
