Who will play in the 2014-15 Champions League?
Most of the major clubs which took part in the competition last time out will also be present this time with the exception of a few. Manchester United who have been regular participants in the Champions League will this time not be able to play in Europe’s biggest competition. They have been replaced in the tournament by domestic rivals Liverpool.
Napoli missed out a place in the last 32 after they were defeated by Athletic Bilbao in the play-off, there will now be only two representatives from Italy in Juventus and Roma. The top four teams from Germany, England and Spain on the other hand will all feature in the Champions League this season.
Who were last season’s cup winners?
Real Madrid triumphed in the Champions League last season in an all Spanish final when they defeated Atletico Madrid at Lisbon. Diego Godin began the proceedings for Atletico and Diego Simeone’s men were edging closer to the crown until an injury time equalizer from Sergio Ramos leveled the scores. Real scored thrice in extra time to end the wait for a tenth Champions League title.
What are the biggest managerial changes?
The most high profile managerial change was at Barcelona where Tata Martino after a disappointing trophy less season was replaced by Luis Enrique. Former AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri on the other hand replaced the departing Antonio Conte at Juventus, whereas Italian tactician Claudio Ranieri was relieved of his duties as the manager of Monaco and has been replaced by Leonardo Jardim.
