Tottenham Hotspur secured a first leg lead against Limassol; they now have to finish the job at White Hart Lane.

Quite a few scenarios could occur at White Hart Lane on Thursday. However, very few of those scenarios would prove threatening to Spurs. This is because Tottenham is coming into this game with a lead. They beat Limassol in Larnaca, away from home, 1-2. Adrian Sardinero opened the scoring for the home side, allowing the home fans to bask in the glory of his goal. However, as has become the trend under Mauricio Pochettino already, Spurs fought back in the face of adversity. They came back in the second half with two goals.

The equalizer was scored by the much maligned Roberto Soldado in the 74th minute. Soldado was an acquisition from Valencia; the Spanish striker had been a star of La Liga for many years before making the jump to the Premier League. However, he did not shine, barely registering any goals aside from a few penalties here and there. Under Pochettino, the fans hope he will shine as he did in Valencia. The winner was scored by Harry Kane in the 80th minute as Sardinero, the hero not too long ago, was subbed off.

Both teams are coming into this match on the back of wins. AEL beat Nea Salamis away from home, 0-2. Tottenham welcomed back former manager Harry Redknapp and his new side, Queens Park Rangers, by beating them easily, 4-0. Nacer Chadli struck twice; Eric Dier, the hero of the first match day, scored in between Chadli's strikes. Emmanuel Adebayor added a fourth for good measure.

Thus, Spurs have the cards in their hands. They can simply avoid defeat and progress to the group stages of the Europa League. Or they can suffer a 0-1 defeat and still progress via the away goals rule. It is entirely up to them. However, they have to be careful if they decide to play the score line instead of the opposition.

Spurs and Pochettino know entrance into the Europa League could potentially lead to a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season. They should not waste the opportunity to at least compete for a place in Europe's premier competition next season.

Can Spurs get the job done?
