“El Principito” played last semester with Bayer Leverkusen on loan from Valencia, and has enjoyed few minutes with Los Naranjeros this preseason.

With the transfer window still open, Andres Guardado returned to Valencia hoping his future will be sorted out soon. The player, with three World Cups under his belt, wouldn’t mind if he had to move to Portugal to enjoy more playing time.

“I’ll play wherever they need med. I’m open to anything that springs out. Last semester, my move to Leverkusen was completed on the final minutes of the transfer window, so I have to be aware of things. I’m grateful for everything Valencia has done for me, we’ll see which way things end up going,” the midfielder told a local radio show.

If he stays playing with Valencia, Guardado knows being a starter won’t be assured, given the club’s transfers during this summer:

“I hope I can live up to the challenge. We have a new coach, new players, and you never know what will happen during this very long year. I will never back down, and if I stay here I’ll do my best to end up with a starting spot,” Guardado added.

Andres Guardado was mentioned to be part of the transaction that led Enzo Perez to Valencia. Previously, “El Principito” was linked to teams such as Sporting Lisbon and Sevilla, but he remains with Valencia until further notice.
