Manchester United and Arsenal have been given positive news after their transfer target opted not to extend his contract.

With the summer transfer window nearing its last few weeks, many of the big clubs in Europe are hoping to wrap up their deals as quickly as possible.

Manchester United so far have made some signings, but still have failed to secure their biggest targets, namely Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria, Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, and Roma defender Mehdi Benatia.

However, the Red Devils, according to reports from Italy, may be closer to getting at least one of their main targets this summer after Benatia rejected a contract extension with the Giallorossi.

As per the Gazzetta dello Sport,  the 27-year-old, who is valued at £30 million, has refused to put pen to paper on a deal that would see him earn €2 million plus a bonus of €500,000, signaling a possible intent to leave the capital club.

The Moroccan international has also been linked with a move to the Bundesliga by German publications, with Bayern Munich named as his next destination.

The Italians also report that as a result, sporting director Walter Sabatini and general manager Mauro Baldissoni will meet with both Arsene Wenger and Louis Van Gaal to discuss a possibility of selling the player abroad.
