The MLS is in the list of potential destinations for Samuel Eto’o after leaving Chelsea as a free agent.

The MLS has been included in the list of all the potential places where Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o could continue his career according to a Cameroonian source. Regarding a move to the MLS, the article could read:

“Also on the lookout, an American club from MLS that would also loan him to the Premier League with an enormous salary. In any case, this week is going to be decisive to the final outcome.”

This would be a case similar to the one of Frank Lampard, who was loaned from New York City FC to Manchester City until the next MLS season kicks off in 2015.

Last month, the former Barcelona player included the United States in a tweet where he was apparently naming the countries where he could end up playing next. Different rumors have circulated about his potential future club, including the likes of Liverpool, Everton and West Ham.

Samuel Eto’o, 34, has enjoyed a succesful career as he has won championships in most of the teams where he has played. In 2006 and 2009 he won the Champions League with Barcelona and then he repeated in 2010 with Internazionale. After that, he moved to Russia in 2011 to play for Anzhi Makhachkala in a multi-million dollar deal before joining Chelsea for the 2013/14 Premier League season.

The former Internazionale striker has also had a brilliant career with his country, as he is currently the all-time leading scorer for Cameroon with a record of 56 goals in 116 appearances.

Eto’o would be signing as a Designated Player in the MLS, as this is the only way in which his high salary expectations could be met.
