Los Rojiblancos are reportedly hopeful of bringing their former striker back but there are some financial constraints.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid are hoping to bring former striker Fernando Torres back to Spain.

The former Liverpool and Atleti attacker has failed to live up to his massive £50 million price tag since arriving at Stamford Bridge three years ago.

As per the Daily Mail, Los Rojiblancos executive Miguel Gil was spotted in London recently, leading to rumors that La Liga's top team last season were attempting to thrash out a deal to have El Nino featuring at the Vicente Calderon for the upcoming season.

The same report claims that they offered £12.5 million for the 30-year-old, but there are two main issues.

Disappointing: Torres has become the butt of many jokes due to his poor scoring record at Chelsea, but financing his move could prove difficult

First, Chelsea would like £20 million for the player that they paid £50 million for, as they recognize that they're going to suffer a massive financial loss but would at least like to soften the blow a bit.

And second, Torres himself has high expectations in terms of his wage demands, believed to be £8 million and this is something that the Champions League runners' up will not be willing to pay.

Los Rojiblancos have already lost two of their key attackers, as Diego Costa was sold to Chelsea while David Villa has departed for new MLS side NYC FC but have brought in a new striker by signing Croatia's Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich.
