The footballer, who played his last official match in 2015, had already stated he wouldn't return to the pitch due to his age.

Yes, he may have been without a team for over two years, but Ronaldinho's fans believe he could still surprise them with one last hurrah. Today, his brother/agent Roberto de Assis admitted that the footballer will call it quits this year, with a friendly match ending his prosperous career after the 2018 World Cup.

Ronaldinho's career had been brought to a halt since 2015, when he played for Brazilian side Fluminense. Last year, the former Barcelona ace denied that a series of friendlies scheduled for this year were going to be his final games, but his brother came clean today in an interview with Brazilian newspaper Folha.

"Yes, that had been settled previously, we just needed to go out and make it official. He's been out of the game for quite a while," De Assis stated.

The former footballer revealed that the venue for Ronaldinho's final game will be decided shortly, but Barcelona's Camp Nou seems like a proper scenario.

"He's done, it's over. We're going to do something big, something great. We're thinking about doing it in August, after the World Cup is played," Ronaldinho's brother added.

Ronaldinho made his debut for Gremio in 1998. He also played for Flamengo, Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro in Brazil. His career in Europe  included stints at PSG, Barcelona and Milan. Before joining Fluminense, he enjoyed a one-year stint in Liga MX, where he played for Querétaro.
